*** Roseburg BMXers Excel In Races ***
Roseburg, Oregon --
Roseburg BMX hosted a State Champion****p
Series race at its new track on Sept. 9, as over
125 riders competed in the event that was originally
scheduled for Aug. 19 but postponed due to rain.
In the 17-20 Cruiser class, Travis Thiessens qualified
for the main in the second round, and then finished fifth
in the main event. In the same race, Zachary Mathis
qualified in the first round and took the overall No.
1 in the main event. He also raced a 20-inch bike and
was set to win the race, crashed in the last corner and
walked away with third.
In the 36-40 Cruiser class, Dave Bastian raced all
three rounds and took first in a total points race.
His wife, Stephanie, also took first in a total points
race in the 36-40 Girls Cruiser class.
In 7 Novice, a new, upcoming rider,
He****on Post, finished fourth.
In 8 Intermediate, Cameron Wright qualified in the
first round and came back in the main event to take
second overall.
In 11 Novice, Jesse Sargent qualified in the
second round and came back to finish third
overall in the main event.
In 12 Expert, there were two Roseburg riders.
Seth Fox placed second and Hobie Post third.
In 28-and-over, Christian Osborn, a 22-year-old,
qualified in the first round and came back to take
second overall.
