The two are not synonymous.  A Pilsner can be a light beer though, but
Pilsner specifically refers to style rather than a beer which is
reduced in alcohol content or calories.  A Pilsner/lager and and ale
are different in the manner in which they are brewed (fermentation
temperature, yeast type, etc.).  If you are interested you can do what
you rarely do ... look it up.  I'm not hear to educate someone who
already thinks he knows it all.
