POST FREE OR DIE?

It is not post free OR die, it is post free AND die! The former is what Tom

Sherman of ARBR advocates in his signature and I used to believe in it
too, 
but no more. I have come to the conclusion that there is no human group
ever 
in the entire history of the human race who can get along without someone
in 
charge wielding dictatorial power. This someone in connection with forums 
like Usenet newsgroups will be what is called a moderator or an editor who

will screen whatever gets posted on the forum. Yes, it is censorship and
it 
is badly needed in all human discourse.

If the above is not in force, you have got nothing but bedlam. What is 
really strange is that Mr. Sherman never says anything too outrageous nor
is 
he off-topic all that much. I rant and rave and I would not last a second
on 
a moderated forum, but Mr. Sherman would last forever. Why he is so
opposed 
to moderated forums is a mystery to me.

In the absence of a moderator we have naught but fools and charlatans on 
these newsgroups. It is a race to the bottom and anyone who tries to
elevate 
the discussion is truly a fool. I urge one and all to get on board and to 
regard Usenet as a playground for clowns and the only thing at play is who

can be the biggest clown.

I refuse to take these newsgroups seriously unless and until you get a 
moderator. Of course, once that happens, I will be gone and lost forever.
At 
that point you would be permanently deprived of the scintillating messages

of the Great Ed Dolan, at least as he is presently constituted. Would that

be so bad?
