For me it is a good way to ride with my wife and other couples. I have a
child stoker kit and occasionally commute to work/school with my 6
year-old
daughter (10km). It is a much nicer feel than a trail-a-bike behind a
single
bike.

They are slower on hills than a single bike, but quick on the flats and
fast, fast on the downhills (we hit 90km/hr this summer).

As with any bike, fit is key, but doubly so on a tandem.

Maybe you should rent one for a few days to try it out. Make sure you try
it
for a few days since they take some time to get used to. Check out MBS
tandems, they are in Mississauga, I think.
