Mike:

First, I would not let any young lady ride alone on this route. She will 
need witnesses ( fellow riders ) for safety/protection.

Belmont ave accross the river is a very narrow 4 lane that is pock 
marked with potholes and a lot of traffic at certain hours. i ride  it 
only on Sunday mornings before 7am. The trick is to get off Montgomery 
Ave into Bryn Mawr before 8 am  when all the church traffic starts.
