I don't know anything about the law in North Carolina, but one thing I
have learned over the years is that Usenet is probably not the best
place to get legal advice.

Call a local attorney.  They may even be willing to do an initial
consultation for free.

And if they're trying to hit with you with a DUI, no matter what the
cir***stances, you absolutely need an attorney.  (In Texas, the DUI
law explicitly says motor vehicles, so you can't get a DUI on a bike,
but public intoxication is certainly still an option.  From what
you've said, it sounds like NC is similar.  Get that attorney!)
