I found this very interesting because I'm into alternative
transportation and also work at an essentially all volunteer radio
station (KALX, Berkeley 90.7 FM) and thought this would make a very good
public service announcement. I guess it would make a decent PSA, but my
jaw dropped when I saw the amounts of money that the registrants are
asked to pay. Around $199 for Early Bird registration. Cocktail
reception and Saturday workshops only, $75, etc.

Maybe I'm living in a different world, but this seems pretty expensive
to me for an event which is supposed to promote problem ameliorating
activities.

:The City of Oakland to Host the First

:Urban labs in Oakland? Mobile workshops on bike or foot? These are
:among the sessions envisioned for the first Statewide Conference on
:Walking and Bicycling, to be held at downtown Oaklandıs Marriott Hotel
:on October 15 18, 2003. Sponsored by the City of Oakland and the

:accessibility, public health programs, multi-use trails, legal issues,
:safe routes to school, and more. Professionals can take advantage of a
:variety of sessions on the nuts and bolts of planning, engineering, and
:maintaining facilities.
:
:³Getting people out of their cars is fundamental to creating a
